Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka today (July 22) provided clarification regarding the animated discussion he engaged in with Sri Lanka’s head coach, Mickey Arthur, at the stadium following the conclusion of the second One Day International (ODI) match between Sri Lanka and India.
The third ODI match is scheduled to be played tomorrow, and during the pre-match press conference, he expressed his belief that the discussion between the coach and himself ought to have occurred within the confines of the dressing room.
“We should have done that in the dressing room” Dasun said.
“He (Arthur) wanted to know if I deviated from the agreed plan and I said no.
“There was no heated conversation. I just explained that this is what happened there.
“I said I did not change plans and there was no deviation.”
On Tuesday, in Colombo, India successfully chased down Sri Lanka’s total of 275-9 with five balls remaining, securing a victory that propelled them to a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s coach Mickey Arthur also shared his views on the animated discussion between him and captain Dasun Shanaka in a Twitter post.
“It was actually a very good debate, no need to make mischief out of it,” Arthur said.
The final of the three-match ODI series between the two countries is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 3 pm in Colombo.
