Asian Cricket Council (ACC) officially announced today (27) that this year’s T 20 Asia Cup, which was scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka, will be held in the United Arab Emirates.
Considering the prevailing situation in Sri Lanka, after long discussions, the Asian Cricket Council unanimously decided to hold the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
Accordingly, this year’s Asia Cup will be held from August 27 to September 11 in the United Arab Emirates.
“Every effort was made to host the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and the decision to shift the venue to the UAE was taken after much deliberation.” Jay Shah, President, ACC said.
“The UAE will be the new venue while Sri Lanka will continue to retain hosting rights. This edition of the Asia Cup is extremely important as it will help Asian nations prepare for the ICC World Cup, and I thank the SLC and the Emirates Cricket Board for their understanding and cooperation.”
