The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the 15-member squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, with Rohit Sharma leading the team.
The same squad will also feature in the three-match ODI series against England scheduled for early February.
Pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who sustained an injury during the final Test against Australia, has been included in the squad, signaling optimism about his recovery.
Harshit Rana has been named as a backup option for Bumrah, especially for the ODI series against England, where the star bowler might miss the first two games.
Spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who recently underwent hernia surgery, has also earned a spot, bolstering India’s spin department.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami, who was recently named in the T20I squad against England after a lengthy injury layoff, finds his place in the Champions Trophy squad as well, but Mohammed Siraj did not find a place.
Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named in the ODI squad for the first time, offering a fresh batting option. Shubman Gill has been appointed vice-captain, reflecting his growing stature in the team.
