The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against England, set to commence on January 22 in Kolkata.
Mohammed Shami Returns:
Pacer Mohammed Shami is set to make his much-awaited international comeback. The 34-year-old, who last played during the 2023 ODI World Cup final, has been out of action due to an ankle injury that required surgery. His return adds experience and depth to India’s bowling attack.
Key Appointments and Omissions:
All-rounder Axar Patel has been named vice-captain, marking a significant milestone in his career. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team, while Sanju Samson continues as the primary wicketkeeper-batter.
Despite his stellar performances in the past, Rishabh Pant remains absent, having not featured in a T20I since July 2024.
