Sydney, Jan 4 – Indian cricket fans were left concerned as India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah was seen leaving the field during the ongoing 5th Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
Reports suggest that Bumrah was accompanied by the medical staff and later departed the dressing room in his training kit, possibly heading for scans.
The 31-year-old pacer bowled just one over on the second afternoon before exiting the field, raising speculation about a potential injury. Official confirmation regarding the nature and severity of his condition is still awaited.
Earlier in the day, Bumrah had spent three of the last five overs in the morning session off the field. He returned for the final two overs before lunch and resumed bowling after the break.
However, his pace was noticeably down, ranging from the early 120 km/h to the low 130 km/h range.
Despite managing to beat Alex Carey’s bat with his very first delivery after lunch, Bumrah’s apparent discomfort was evident.
He left the field immediately after completing that over and did not return until visuals later showed him leaving the stadium in a car.
Bumrah has been a crucial part of India’s bowling attack, and any prolonged absence could significantly impact the team’s performance in the ongoing Test series.
