The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court granted bail to Indian national Prem Thakur, the owner of the Galle Marvels team, on heavy bail conditions.
Thakur was arrested for allegedly making a match-fixing proposal to a West Indian player during the recently concluded Lanka T10 Super League.
The Marvels owner was released on a cash bail of 500,000 rupees, along with two sureties of 5 million rupees each.
However, the court has imposed strict conditions on his release to ensure his cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
In addition to the financial bail conditions, the suspect has been barred from traveling abroad until further notice.
He has also been instructed to appear before the Special Investigation Unit for Prevention of Offenses Relating to Sports every Wednesday.
The case is scheduled to be heard again on January 27.
