In a shake-up to their Test squad, Australia has made several changes ahead of the final two matches of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Test series against India.
Opener Nathan McSweeney has been dropped following a series of inconsistent performances in his debut series. The 25-year-old right hand batter, who made his Test debut in Perth, managed scores of 10, 0, 39, 10*, 9, and 4 across the first three matches, prompting the selectors to look for alternatives.
He makes way for 19-year-old batting sensation Sam Konstas, who has impressed with his performances in domestic cricket and is seen as a promising prospect for the future.
Australia has also bolstered its pace attack after Josh Hazlewood was ruled out of the series due to injury. Sean Abbott and Jhye Richardson have been recalled, while Beau Webster is also retained in the 15-player squad to provide additional depth and options in the bowling department.
The Test series between India and Australia is finely poised at 1-1, with the fourth Test set to begin on Boxing Day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
