The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India men’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 to be played from 30th August to 17th September in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Rohit Sharma will lead the 17-member squad and Hardik Pandya will be the vice captain.
KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have been selected in the squad while Tilak Varma, who hasn’t made his ODI debut yet, has received a maiden ODI call-up.
Fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, who made his international comeback during the ongoing T20I series in Ireland after recovering from back surgery, has also been selected.
The tournament, which will be played in fifty-overs format, will kick off in Multan with Pakistan taking on Nepal on August 30. The final is scheduled in Colombo (R. Premadasa Stadium) on September 17.
India will open its Asia Cup campaign against Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy.
The 16th edition of the tournament has six teams divided into two groups. Pakistan, India and Nepal are in Group A while Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are in Group B.
