Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has decided to retire from Test cricket.
He has taken this decision with the aim of paying more attention to the limited overs format.
“Informing his decision, Hasaranga said the reason behind the move is to prolong his career as a limited-overs specialist.” a SLC release on Tuesday said..
26-year-old Hasaranga made his Test debut in South Africa in December 2020.
Wanindu, who has played only 4 Test matches so far, has taken only 4 wickets. He took all those four wickets in one innings.
As a batsman, he scored 196 runs in those four matches.
“We will accept his decision and are confident that Hasaranga will be a vital part of our white-ball program going forward,” said Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket.
