All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been appointed as the new captain of the Bangladesh ODI team.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan said that this appointment has been made for the upcoming Asia Cup and ICC ODI World Cup.
BCB President added that the Bangladesh squad for the Asia Cup and the World Cup will be announced tomorrow (August 12).
“Shakib Al Hasan is the captain for the Asia Cup, New Zealand series and World Cup,” BCB President told reporters at his house on Friday.
“The World Cup and Asia Cup squad will be announced tomorrow. The selectors will pick a squad of 17 members.”
Bangladesh had to appoint a new captain due to Tamim Iqbal’s recent decision to step down from ODI captaincy.
BCB President also confirmed that Litton Das would continue to serve as the vice-captain of the Bangladesh ODI team.
