Pakistan’s men’s selection committee today (August 9) announced squads for the Asia Cup 2023 and the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan.
An 18-member squad will take on Afghanistan from August 22 to 26 in Sri Lanka, and it will be trimmed to 17 players for the Asia Cup.
Saud Shakeel, who impressed in the recent Test series against Sri Lanka, has been included in the squad for the ODIs against Afghanistan but is not part of the 17-man Asia Cup squad.
Faheem Ashraf has been recalled for the ODI Squad after a gap of more than two years, while Shan Masood has been left out.
Meanwhile, Tayyab Tahir has received his second call-up in the ODI side.
The Asia Cup, which will be played in fifty-overs format, will kick off in Multan with Pakistan taking on Nepal on August 30. The final is scheduled in Colombo (R. Premadasa Stadium) on September 17.
