Cricket Australia announced captain Pat Cummins would not return for the third Test against india in Indore next week due to a family illness. Steve Smith has been appointed captain for the 3rd Test.
Pat Cummins left for Australia last week due to his mother’s illness. With a nine-day break between the 2nd Test and 3rd Test, it had been hoped the 29-year-old fast bowler would return to India for the third Test beginning Match 1.
But Cricket Australia confirmed Today (24) Pat Cummins would miss the 3rd Test of the Border–Gavaskar Trophy.
“I have decided against returning to India at this time, I feel I am best being here with my family” said Cummins.
“I appreciate the overwhelming support I have received from Cricket Australia and my teammates. Thanks for your understanding.”
